Bathinda: Bathinda police on Wednesday launched an ambitious project ‘BASICS’ – Bathinda Advanced Safety Initiative through Community Surveillance.Divulging details, SSP Swapan Sharma informed that it was a three-phased project. Under which, the Phase I was construction of 20 pickets and placing them at 20 different locations in city where public could interact with permanently stationed police officials. The phase 2, he informed, is electronic surveillance through high definition CCTV cameras. The CCTV cameras will be installed at 22 points in the city and they will be connected with radio waves to a centralised control centre, he said, adding that four locations had already started working. Phase III is the stationing of Investigation officers in their beats. It will help in immediate action on complaint of aggrieved person and save time of visit to police station, as informed.
