Despite various protests and written complaints to Municipal Commissioner, Ludhiana, Ghanshyam Thori, till date no action has been taken by authorities for the welfare of the city residents.Karaj Singh, president of the Residents’ Association said that they are sick and tired of complaining to the councillor of the area and MC Commissioner over this issue as no one is doing anything to put off dump and sand trolleys away from the area, which is causing problem for the city residents.Even the Municipal Commissioner visited the spot with Councillor Narinder Singh Malhi. But, it merely just turned out any complaint.
Neither the dump has been shifted from the spot nor the sand trolleys by authorities till date. It is pertinent to mention that residents of ward number 31 remained up in arms against the authorities for a month turning a blind eye to their problems. They alleged that tractor-trailers of sand are parked right on the bridge in an illegal manner and the law enforcing agencies are allegedly hand in gloves with the owners of the tractor-trailers. Moreover, the area is slowly turning into a garbage dump as litter is seen scattered all over the bridge, not just causing inconvenience, but putting residents at the risk of many diseases. One of the residents, preferring anonymity, said the tractor-trailers filled with sand were parked right from early morning till late evening hours. They alleged that the authorities are hand in gloves with the authorities that is why no action has been taken against the persons who own sand trolleys and non-shifting of the dump.
The resident complained that garbage was scattered all over the bridge and due to these problems even the road along nullah has not carpeted till date. Karaj Singh on the behalf of the residents said that garbage lifting agencies rarely visit the area and in the monsoon season the area stinks badly. MC authorities are just not bothered to issue necessary instructions to the agency to lift garbage on time. The diseases can outbreak in the area and many have fall prey to the diseases also. The Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Ghanshyam Thori said that he has forwarded the complaint to Health Officer of MCL, Dr Charanjit Uppal for the necessary action.
