Punjab congress will hold a protest at the tale end of syl canal in abohar today.
Chandigarh: Raising the pitch further against Akali government on SYL issue, Punjab Congress on Saturday burnt effigies of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in all 117 Assembly constituencies of the state, accusing him of selling interests of the people.
In Ludhiana, Congress activists led by Deputy CLP Leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu staged a protest near Ram Sharman Ashram. Ashu flayed Badal for failing to protect the interests of state. “The Badal government failed to defend SYL case in the Apex Court”, Ashu said.
At Jalandhar, District Congress Committee (Urban) President Rajinder Beri organised a ‘Putla Fook Pardarshan’ against Modi and Badal government outside DC Complex. Whereas in Patiala Congress activists under the leadership of MLA Brahm Mohindra burnt effigy of Badal at Tripuri.
Meanwhile in Amritsar , Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress president Mamta Dutta led the protest at Khandwala. Party leaders exhorted the Congress workers to go to people over the subject and garner public support in an effort to ensure 2/3rd majority for the party in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Congress is organizing a major rally in Abohar today at the tail end of SYL canal. Congress has also sought a meeting with President of India to apprise him of the problems that will be faced by people of Punjab as a result of SC verdict.
