Jalandhar: A day after it was announced that ex-SAD MLA Pargat Singh and ex-BJP MLA Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu would be joining Congress, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday said that both the leaders had become ‘politically worthless’ and somehow managed to join the Congress.
The Deputy CM said that Pargat Singh and Navjot Sidhu were spentforces and Sidhu got hit-wicket wheareas Pargat had scored a self-goal by joining the sinking ship of Congress.
Wishing Congress good luck on including both the leaders, Sukhbir said, “It would not impact SAD in any case, as they have lost their faith and credibility by bargaining with various political outfits. Now, they have finally joined Congress, as they failed to get any buyer.”
Talking to the media after laying the foundation stone of an ITI at Government Senior Secondary School Sofi Pind here, the Deputy CM said, “This is a sheer case of political opportunism. Initially, these leaders projected themselves as big leaders but then started bargaining with all the parties.”
He mentioned Pargat Singh’s poor performance was a reason behind the political war that ensued between Pargat and the SAD leadership.
However, when pointed out that then why Pargat Singh was elevated to the rank to Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Sukhbir promptly said, “It was done to encourage him to improve his performance.”
