Ferozepur: Keeping the momentum of their struggle the contractual employees of various departments intensified their agitation and handed over the memorandum of demands to the Chief Secretary through headquarters on Tuesday. The unions also announced that they would lodge their protest more aggressively in the coming days.
The unions of the employees assembled outside the Deputy Commissioner and held a protest rally. Addressing the rally many leaders of the employees said that in spite of passing the act the employees had been forced to continue their struggle and come on the roads. They said that the government had promised to give 1.13 lakh jobs, but during the last 10 years the government had terminated the services of a large number of employees.
They said that in spite of the letters issued by the election commission twice, the Chief Secretary had not been paying any attention towards the demands of the employees, and it was very strange that the Chief Secretary cannot spare time to listen to the employees and solve their problems. They warned that if the government would not regularise their services, 251 employees would sit on hunger strike.
