Court dismisses bail plea of Dera Chief’s ‘security guard’.
Chandigarh – A Chandigarh district court on Wednesday dismissed the bail petition of one of the accused, claimed to be a security guard of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. The court of Civil Judge Palwinder Singh ់the bail application of Maninder Singh who was arrested with five others with pistol and 25 live cartridges by the Chandigarh Police after dera followers resorted to violence in Panchkula following the Special CBI court’s verdict against Ram Rahim.In all, the police had arrested six persons on August 25 when they were trying to enter Chandigarh from Panchkula. It was argued that he had not resorted to violence at Chandigarh or Panchkula and he, along with his five partners, accidentally entered Chandigarh that day. He pleaded that he should be granted bail as he has been falsely implicated in the matter; the Chandigarh Police, on the other side, opposed the bail.Six persons were booked under Section 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly s 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC and 25–27-54–59 of the Arms Act. The accused, identified as Ranjit Singh, a resident of Haryana; Dharmender, a resident of Uttar Pradesh; Anup, a resident of Haryana; Krishanpal Singh, a resident of Punjab; Maninder Singh, a resident of Punjab, and Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Haryana, were in a Gypsy and claimed to be security guards of the Dera Sacha Sauda chief. The court had earlier dismissed the bail application of three of the accused.
