Crackers row: HC issues notice to Sangrur admn. Punjab and Haryana High Court issued notice of motion to the Sangrur administration, DC and SSP of Sangrur district on Tuesday. Single Bench headed by Justice Raj Shekhar Attri directed them to file reply by October 18. The court has issued ‘dasti’ notice to them. It has been stated in the petition filed by two shopkeepers Lakhwinder Singh and Deepak Kumar of Sangrur city that no temporary licence has been issued in Sangrur despite the High Court orders.It is mentioned that a Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed the all deputy commissioners to issue temporary licences to 20 per cent of the total applications by draw of lots to sell the crackers. The Bench has issued order in this regard on October 13. Both the petitioners have prayed before the High Court to direct the district administration to issued temporary licences as per the directions of the High Court.Confirming that notice of motion has been issued to the Sangrur administration, including DC and SSP, Punjab government and other respondents, counsel for petitioner Aman Bansal said that they have been asked to reply by October 18.
