Cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur as DSP of Punjab Police: Captain
Chandigarh:The Punjab cabinet on Thursday approved the appointment of well-known woman cricketer and Arjuna Award winner Harmanpreet Kaur as DSP in the state police department, while giving the go-ahead for government jobs to two children of martyr Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh, who was killed and mutilated while fighting an infiltration bid at the Line of Control (LoC) in May this year.In a Cabinet meeting addressed by Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, women cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur appointed as DSP, Simrandeep Kaur daughter of Shaheed Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh, has given clearance for recruitment as Tehsildar and son Sahldeep Singh as Assistant Sub-Inspector. The Cabinet has constituted a sub-committee headed by Health Minister Behram Mahindra in connection with the closure of thermal plants older more than 25 years on the orders of the Central Energy Authority, which will close the Bathinda and Rohr Thermal Plant. And will give its report within 2 weeks regarding the future of the employees.
