Curfew relaxed for twelve hours in Bathinda
Bathinda- The district administration relaxed the curfew for twelve hours on Saturday from 9 am to 9 pm, as a part of its policy to slowly lift the curfew finally in a phased manner after reviewing it from time to time depending upon the circumstances. This was disclosed by Sakshi Sawhney SDM of Bathinda on Saturday.Earlier, the curfew was clamped in city from August 25 3:30 pm as a precautionary measure keeping in view of few untoward incidents in Bathinda on conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a rape case by the special CBI Court at Panchkula. According to official sources, seven minor incidents took place in the district on Friday.Sawhney said that curfew was initially relaxed for three hours from 9 am to 12 noon on Saturday so that the people could purchase the daily need items and medicines etc. But later on reviewing the situation, the district administration decided to extend it further till 9 pm, she said.Meanwhile, few parts of the city go without milk and other dairy products. Supply of milk was hit today following curfew and prohibitory orders in the district. “Most of the milk men did not bring the product to the city today,” said Dr Gurbax Singh owner of Hotel Basant near railway station. He said, “We have faced a lot of problem and did not get milk in the inner city.”Gian Chand Bansal President Swaraj Abhiyan urged the administration to take note of the few vegetable sellers, who are selling vegetable at very exorbitant rates. “They are charging unreasonably very high prices,” he said.
