DC orders on bursting of firecrackers on Diwali. In compliance with the directions dated October 13, 2017, of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, District Magistrate Ajit Balaji Joshi, in supersession of his earlier order regarding ban on bursting of firecrackers, has ordered that the bursting of firecrackers within the territorial limits of UT shall be between 6.30 pm and 9.30 pm on Diwali day, October 19, only.With this, there shall be no bursting of crackers even before and after Diwali till October 26, 2017. The sale of firecrackers by temporary licensees shall only be in the areas which are designated in the temporary licence and no temporary licensee shall sell firecrackers or market them at any other place except the areas earmarked or designated for the same.The manufacture, sale or use of firecrackers generating noise level exceeding 125 dB (AI) or 145 dB (C) pk at 4-metre distance from the point of bursting and for individual firecracker constituting the series, the said limit reduced by 5 log 10 (N) dB, where N= number of crackers joined together, shall be banned. Every manufacturer shall, on the box of each firecracker, mention details of its chemical contents and that it satisfies the requirement as laid by the Department of Explosives. This order shall come into force with immediate effect and be effective up to and including October 26, 2017.
