Chandigarh: “The aim of the SAD-BJP government is to ensure that the benefit of each and every development oriented scheme reaches all the sections of society so as to raise their standard of living and transform their lives. The implementation of welfare centric schemes is an article of faith with the state government.”
Making this amply clear in a meeting here on Tuesday with the Deputy Commissioners and higher officials of various departments, the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal carried out a review of the welfare oriented schemes and instructed the DCs that no laxity would be tolerated in the implementation of such schemes.
The Deputy Chief Minister while reviewing Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna (BPSSBY) said that no cards under the scheme are to be distributed through depots instead the disbursal must be effected through vigilance committees. He also instructed that by October 30 all the cards must be distributed. He also said that surprise checks should be conducted by the respective district authorities in the hospitals in order to gain first hand information regarding the implementation of the scheme besides giving widespread amount of publicity to the complaint number 104 connected with the scheme.
Regarding paddy procurement, the Deputy Chief Minister made it absolutely clear that ‘Bardana’ should be made available in the mandis as early as possible and special attention should be paid to ensure hygienic conditions in the mandi’s. Batting for the start of lifting from the first day itself, Sukhbir directed the DCs to interact with the farmers on everyday basis so as to make sure that the farming community faces no hassles in selling their produce at mandis. The Deputy Chief Minister also laid emphasis on distributing the previously sanctioned atta-dal cards till October 5 through vigilance committees. Besides this, he also asked the department of Health and Family Welfare to launch a campaign in malls and multiplexes to caution people against dengue and other deadly diseases and ensure hygienic surroundings so as to prevent these diseases from spreading.
