Bathinda – Two days after slapping a case under Arms Act against him for allegedly possessing illegal firearms, Bathinda district police on Thursday arrested the rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim headed Dera Sacha Sauda’s Punjab Headquarters (Salabatpura)’s chief manager Jora Singh in a different case.Phul police of Bathinda district booked Jora Singh as the conspirator and perpetrator of violence that took place in the district after the dera head was convicted on August 25. Police claimed that during the interrogation of those arrested in the dera violence cases, stated that Jora Singh had played an active role in the unlawful activity wit also divulging that he had provoked a group of dera followers to set the Seva Kendra at Bhai Rupa on fire to express the anger against the government and the CBI court.Reacting to the charges, cops from Phul police station, where the Fir related to Bhai Rupa Seva Kendra was registered, raided the Salabatpura dera and arrested Jora Singh from there. Phul SHO Bhupinder Singh confirmed the development. On the other hand, sources informed that Thursday’s action was just another ploy of the district police to ensure his arrest as Jora Singh had already applied for anticipatory bail in the Arms Act case, terming it a fabricated one. The court was to take up the matter on Friday and before that he was arrested in a different case.Notably, Dialpura police in Bathinda district while booking Jora Singh for possessing a .315 bore rifle along with 66 bullets without valid license, had claimed that the weapon was recovered from under the mattress of his bed at Salabatpura dera. It was also alleged that a ‘Sadhu’ of the dera identified as Sukhdev Singh of Pakho village in Barnala district had supplied the same to him some time ago. However, in that case police had opted to launch investigation after the FIR before detaining him.
