Sangrur: The Punjab police have cracked the case of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib with arrest of one person in Sangrur, on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Harpreet Singh alias Sonu (27) resident of Daulatpura village ninwa in Sangrur
During the preliminary investigation it has come to fore that the accused committed the crime with a motive to disrespect the religious sentiments of Sikhs community. Following the complaint of the Sikh community after the incident the police had initiated the investigation.
The incident of desecration of guru granth sahib was recently took place in village Daulatpura Ninwa in Moga. When Dera Dukh Bhanjan Sahib’s Chief Sant Baba Resham Singh and other villagers, and people of different faith got the information of the incident they all broke out in anger.
Enraged villagers rushed to Harpreet Singh’s (alias Sonu) to confront him about the residue of his action. Some outraged villagers caught him and trounced him. Police has been deputed in hospital and village to maintain law and order. Senior police officials are investigating the case to verify the involvement of others in the case.
