Moga: Despite tall claims by the government on the overall development of the state, residents of Moga claim they have seen multiple problems which need dire attention from the local administration and those in governance.
City residents await progress on issues concerning traffic and public health among other. They hope that the new government post elections in 2017 will announce new development projects and use funds appropriately as set by the government.
On the other hand, city resident Rachhpal Singh said that after Moga was announced as Municipal Corporation from council, the chief minister has announced to install Reverse Osmosis (RO) system in all the fifty wards of the city but the promise is yet to be fulfilled. The MC has written to Improvement trust for the funds but due to lack of funds the project of RO system in yet to be completed.
Apart from the development, rise in crime and snatching incidents haunts city residents. Reports claim that in the past few days wife of a senior police official, among several other civilians were snatched off their possessions.
In Baghapura constituency lack of health facilities still remains an issue of concern. The only government hospital refers its patients to Moga civil hospital or Ludhiana instead of providing treatment themselves. Moreover, no private hospital is yet built in Baghapurana.
1 The major problem in Moga city is of traffic congestion in Main Bazaar. This could be corrected by removing illegal encroachments and issuing challan to wrongly parked vehicles
2 The civil hospital is situated in Main Bazaar, Residents face traffic while reaching the hospital after crossing through traffic prone area. The administration can declare some roads as one way and avoid the chaotic chaos
3 Incomplete highway is another issue of cocern. The work of four laning of Ludhiana to Talwandi road was started in 2009 but the project hangs incomplete causing chaos to commuters.
4 Few years ago, the government had announced a shift of the court complex to outskirts of the city but the project is yet to be completed.
