Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa here on Sunday refuted the allegations, leveled by an alleged gangster Ravi Deol with regard to pushing him into crime world by Amanveer Cherry, a former OSD to Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, and close relative of former Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa. Dhindsa also accused Congress leader Rahul Inder Singh Sidhu, son of former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, of having relations with Ravi Deol and instigating Deol to issue statements against Dhindsa family in one way or the other. He also clarified that neither he nor his son, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, had any relation of any type with Deol. Dhindsa also sought an inquiry by CBI or any other independent agency into entire episode. Dhindsa also alleged that Congress leaders were behind the surrender by Ravi Deol in a court here and were now meeting Deol even in police custody for hatching conspiracy against his Dhindsa’s family members and relatives by asking Deol to issue statements against them. He also raised questions over the functioning of the police, saying that it had been arranging Congress leaders’ meetings with Deol. Dhindsa said that Amanveer Cherry was a son of Parminder Dhindsa’s aunt and he had no office in the SAD. He also said that Deol had never met Parminder, Cherry, or him in the past 15 years. This was a tactic to tarnish their image in politics as such tactics were being used by Congress leaders in the light of ensuing Lok Sabha elections as Bhattal family wanted to contest on Sangrur Lok Sabha seat and take benefit in the Lok Sabha elections, he added. Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal said Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa had been taking name of his son, Rahul Inder Singh Sidhu, just to divert the attention of the people from the allegations, leveled by gangster Ravi Deol against their close relative.
