DP Correspondent , Jalandhar, September 3:- A two-day special centre sponsored assessment camp for disabled people would be organized by district administration on September 4 and 5 at Red Cross Bhawan. Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma Sunday called upon the needy people to drive maximum benefit from the camp, where they would be provided different type of assistance free of cost. He said that needy people must come forward and register themselves in these camps so that necessary assistance could be given to them. Sharma said that this camp was being organized under the Assistance to Disabled persons for purchasing/ fitting of aids/ appliances (ADIP) scheme of the Government of India (GoI).The Deputy Commissioner said that a team of experts would check the people coming for the registration and assess the extent of disability of the people. They would prepare a report for distributing artificial limbs, hearing aids, wheel chair, Braile Cane to them free of cost. He said that after compiling the data of the needy beneficiaries a free distribution camp would also be organized to help the people suffering from any sort of physical disability. Sharma reiterated that applicants must produce residential certificate, disability certificate, proof of income along with photographs on the occasion.
