City development works on halt, MC waits for approval
Jalandhar – The Corporation is being threatened with the reimbursement of the MLA fund of 40 crore rupees as the Municipal Corporation has prepared a work order of 27 crores from this fund but the work had not given to the contractors yet. It cannot be given as the work to start in the city with funds of Rs 40 crores yet to be approved by the state government. Even earlier, objections were put on to give Rs 40 crore fund to four MLAs and this time also the work has been delayed due to delay in approval.The corporation is preparing a work order for the contractors to work, but the work of development is likely to start only after the work order is given to the contractors. It is said that the resolution was passed by the Corporation House in this matter, but the government is yet to give confirmation to the corporation whether funds has passed or not. After which the work order is expected to be given. According to an information, out of Rs 40 crore fund of the MLAs, Rs 27 crore has to be spent in different constituencies where work orders are ready and waiting for the approval by the state government.Work orders by the corporation of 27 crores include the repairing of some main roads and construction of cement roads in the city. Confirming the matter, corporation Sources said that the work orders of the works are ready and there is no hurdle in it. Its just that corporation is waiting for approval, funds are expected to be approved on Monday. After approval, the work will be initiated, according to the information the MLAs are also upset that the work order from their fund has not approved yet.
