Panic and tension gripped Jalandhar based Dera Rumale Wale, Johalan on Thursday after some notorious persons kept Sant Jaspal Singh under house arrest for around five hours. The incident took place during the anniversary of Sant Basant Singh and Sant Gian Singh, when Sant Jaspal Singh found himself locked in a room. The dera is situated on Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur road.Sant Jaspal Singh said that he was on meditation in his room, when someone locked it from outside. “I was left locked in the room for over five hours in the morning. Some devotees, including notorious retired police and government officials, have been eyeing the huge cash and offerings at the dera”, he said.
He said that he was trying to save the dera from the clutches of such notorious persons but a lobby of persons was pursuing such tactics. “It was only after I got up from meditation and tried to open the door that I got to know that the door was locked from outside. The sewadar on duty informed that some persons forcibly locked me inside while I was sitting on meditation”, he added.Reportedly, dera Johalan has huge property worth several crores on the Jalandhar –Hoshiarpur highway near Rama Mandi stretch. As per information, a group of retired police and government officials have been leading a lobby against Sant Jaspal Singh and have been provoking incumbent sect head Sant Jeet Singh against him. Sant Jaspal Singh said that he was aware of the groupism led by some persons against him. Later in the day, the situation became normal.
