District Legal Services Authority, Kapurthala celebrated International Day of the Girl Child on today and it organised a seminar in the premises of Hindu Putri Pathshala and also poster making competition was arranged on the themes of female foeticide, water conservation, traffic rules etc. to mark this day memorable. Chief Judicial Megistrate cum Secretary DLSA Mr. Sanjeev Kundi registered his presence as chief guest of the day and enlightened the girl students with their rights.Speaking on the occasion CJM Mr. Kundi said that International Day of the Girl Child given people and organization the opportunity to raise public awareness of the different types of discrimination and abuse that many girls around the world suffer from, he bats for opportunities and rights for girls to have equal education and others for their fundamental freedom and to empower the girls through active support and engagement with parents, families and the wider community. Mr. Kundi also threw light on P.C.P.N.D.T Act 1994, Right of Children to Free & Compulsory Education Act 2009 , Child Labour Act and Prevention of Child Marriage etc.Providing detailed information about the Legal Services Act, 1987 Mr. Kundi said that every economical backward person whose annual income does not crosses Rs.1.5 lakh or belongs to SC/ST or victim of trafficking in human beings or beggar as referred to be in Article 23 of the constitution or a woman or a child or a victim of mass disaster or a mentally ill or otherwise disabled person or an industrial workman or in custody in a protective home within the meaning of clase(g) of section 2 of the immoral Traffic(Prevention) Act 1956 etc are entitled to seek free legal aid from subdivisional court to apex court ,he briefed. Mr. Kundi appreciated the students for preparing beautiful paintings he awared the students.
