Chandigarh(Narinder Jagga): Shahkot bye-poll cost the AAP and its candidate Rattan Singh Kakar Kalan much. There are approximately 15,000 registered members of the Party in Shahkot, but party could able to achieve only 1900 votes. Uncompiled expenditure report has also expressed more than 11.05 lacs expenses of AAP candidate during election and according to calculation each vote cost him Rs 580. AAP candidate could not get many votes to save his security from forfaiting. The candidate of the party had an achieved 41,010 votes during the Punjab Assembly election-2017.The position of the party in the State has been deteriorating day-by-day. Leader of the party who made claims of victory did not even spent few days to the polls. Before the assembly election of 2017, the party had made more than one lacs registered members in the Jalandhar district, while approximately 15,000 in alone Shahkot. 10 members ‘committees had been formed in all 236 booths across the constituency and the number of members of these committee is 2360, which are much more than the polled votes in favour of AAP candidate, now. Star campaigner of the party, Bhagwant Mann could spend only a day along with Sukhpal Khaira and others, but Khaira was found engage in some other matters.NOTA outshine political parties.
‘Not of the above’ (NOTA) has outshined four political parties and five independent candidates as it could able to get more votes than them. Five independent candidates got reduced between 76 to 391 votes.
