If it is a Punjabi wedding, it has to be special. But if it is an NRI’s marriage, the Band, Baaja, Baarat was likely to be not only lavish but unique too! NRI’s from the doaba belt of Punjab were known for dreaming big and living life king size and they hardly miss a chance of splurging on their aspirations. An NRI’s wedding in Kapurthala on the occasion of New Year ie January 1 became the talk of the town, as couple- Manpreet Singh from Italy and Manpreet Kaur from Germany hired a private chopper for their wedding. The couple’s dream like lavish landing at Bhandal Palace in Kapurthala added all the more excitement to the NRI wedding. Manpreet Kaur hailed from Akbarpur village while Manpreet Singh belonged to Naurangur village in Kapurthala. “Dreams have no price tag and the more you overboard, nothing like it”, the elated couple said. While the couple’s chopper landing was the attraction of the day, guests at the wedding missed no chance of clicking selfies and making videos with the chopper at the backdrop.Other than the private chopper and off course the bride and groom, not only the guests, even the locals were seen rushing to witness the moment of the day. “We heard the sound of the chopper and thought that some politician has arrived. But, later we got to know, that it was an NRI couple, who came in a private chopper for marriage”, said a roadside shopkeeper. The NRI family has hired the private chopper from Delhi based Aryan Aviation. Vikas Tomar, Assistant Manager Operations said that an NRI family from Kapurthala had hired private chopper from them. He said that they charge Rs 90,000 per hour for the chopper while the timing and booking of the chopper was also a major factor in finalizing the expenses.  The private choppers were based at Delhi, Mumbai at times, the services of other aviation companies were also taken, Tomar said.
