Punjab’s most wanted gangster Vicky Gounder killed in an encounter on Friday along with his two aides by Punjab police. Dreaded gangster Prema Lahoria who belongs to Jalandhar was also killed in the encounter near Punjab-Rajasthan border. He was the top aide of Gounder, who helped him in sensational Nabha jailbreak to the killing of gangster Sukha Kahlwan. Prema who was once an athlete died as gangster. He was earlier close to gangster Daljeet Bhana as well. Lahoria, Gounder and Bhana were friends in 2009 and studied together at Government Arts and Sports College in Jalandhar.
He 100 meters hurdles athlete, tables turned and he ended up as a top gangster of Punjab. Lahoria was ‘A’ Category gangster having a reward of Rs 2 lakh, was also a proclaimed offender wanted in 10 cases of murder, gangwar, jailbreak, extortion, drug smuggling, weapon smuggling. He was a resident of Mithu Basti, Jalandhar. Before joining Gounder, Lahoria was in Sukha Kahlwan gang. Lovely Baba, a close friend of Lahoria was killed by Kahlwan in 2014 which resulted in Lahoria and Gounder came together.
They killed Kahlwan on Jalandhar Phagwara highway in police custody, when police were taking him back to Nabha jail after a court hearing on January 21, 2015. Some of the accused were arrested by police in Kahlwan murder but both of them manage to dodge police. Last year a Kapurthala court framed charges against seven accused in Kahlwan case and declared Gounder, Lahoria and five others proclaimed offenders. Gounder and Lahoria were evading police for a long time but police managed to put an end to the manhunt on Friday in an encounter.
