Jalandhar – Five years ago on January 18, 40 lockers were robbed at Punjab and Sind Bank branch (P&SB) at Reru village. Jalandhar Commissionerate is still to solve the incident even after half a decade. The burglars made their heed way into the strongroom of the bank by using a gas-cutter to pass through the iron gate. They decamped with cash, foreign currency, gold and silver worth a number of crores. As soon as the account holders and locker holders got to know about the incident they started to inquire the status of their lockers. Inconsolable locker holders were stunned to see their loss. Today, the bank can be seen functioning normally, but according to a bank employee the incident still disturbs management and the bank had to disburse Rs 3 crore as compensation to the public for their losses after facing substantial remonstration. The amount measures as 60 percent of the gold cost. This is also to be mentioned that no CCTV cameras were installed at the time of the robbery. Despite launching serious efforts to solve this case, the police when contacted by Daily Post does not even know about the incident.
