Six ATM robbers arrested. Kapurthala police today busted an inter-state gang of ATM robbers that was involved in the looting of 25 ATMs in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Six members of the gang were arrested with a cash recovery of more than Rs 13 lakh. Two stolen cars and a motorcycle were also recovered from them.Addressing a press conference, SSP Sandeep Sharma said that the police today arrested the accused at a naka near Mundi Amur, falling in Sultanpur Lodhi. The police identified the arrested accused as Charanjit Singh, Suraj Singh, all residents of Tarn Taran, and Jagat Narain and Manpreet Singh.
All accused confessed to having committed 25 robberies at ATMs in Punjab, one in Ambala and one in Jawalaji in Himachal Pradesh. They also revealed that they had looted cash worth more than Rs 1 crore after breaking open the ATMs with the help of tools.During the police remand, the accused, Jagtar Narain alias Kaka resident of Hansaliwali street , Amritsar and Manpreet Singh alias Lucky, son Sham Lal resident of chowk Baba Sahib Singh Haveli Kahan Singh Amritsar, disclosed the names of two gangsters in Amritsar.The arrested robbers were identified as Kamaljit Singh, Ahanpreet Singh, Nishan Singh and Gurpreet Singh, all residents of Amritsar.
