DP Correspondent, Jalandhar, September 1 :Ahead of the famous Sodal Mela, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma on Friday held a review meeting at Sri Sidh Baba Sodal Temple to finalize the arrangements for the annual fair. Sodal Mela will be celebrated on September 5.Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajinder Singh and Additional Deputy Commissioner Gurmeet Singh, the Deputy Commissioner said that this fair was an important event in the region and hassle free arrangements should be made. The DC asked the General Manager of the Punjab Roadways to deploy Mini Buses from Railway Station, Bus Stand and other places to ferry the pilgrims to the shrine during the fair.He also directed the Public Works Department to inspect the stages and swings to be installed during the fair. Sharma also instructed the department to assist the Police in proper barricading of the temple premises so as to avoid any sort of chaos. Sharma also asked the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ) to appoint Safai Sewaks round the clock in rotation. Adequate arrangements for supply of potable water and installation of temporary public toilets should be ensured, he said.He also asked the Health department to depute its teams along with ambulances permanently during the fair to impart Health services to people. The DC also directed the PSPCL employees to provide 24X7 power supply. Meanwhile, DCP Rajinder Singh said that around 1500 security personnel would round the clock keep strict during this famous fair. The DCP said that CCTV cameras would be installed around the mela premises to keep a strict vigil during the fair.
