DP Correspondent, Bholath (Kapurthala), August 19: Tax incentives to hilly states disastrous for Punjab’s industry: Rana. Punjab minister for Power and Irrigation Rana Gurjeet Singh on Saturday reacted sharply on the extension of Tax Holiday to the neighboring states of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir by the BJP led NDA government at the centre.Rana said that it would adversely hit the prospects of industrial growth in Punjab. He said that it was a major setback for the state’s economy in general and industrialization in particular. Rana Gurjeet Singh said that the Punjab government would so take up this issue with the centre government. “Modi government’s decision would severely ruin the prospects of industrial growth in Punjab, which was already facing a slump in the industrial sector. We would approach the Modi government against this issue”, he said.Interacting with the media persons after addressing a rally organized by Congress leaders who have recently left AAP, the minister said that the AAP and its leaders neither have any ideology nor any commitment towards the people of the state. “AAP leaders were a bunch of ‘opportunists and ‘turncoats’, who could be never loyal to the people of the state”, he said. Rana said that these people dreamt of ruling the state by showing green pastures to the voters but in turn they were shown the door by people. The Minister said that AAP was like a house of cards that would be fall very soon. He said that those people who were not loyal to their parties could never be sincere with the state. To a query, the minister said that NRIs must spend their hard earned money on the development of their native places and villages, instead of funding political parties.Earlier lashing out at his opponents, Rana said that those who consider their hereditary rights over this constituency have done nothing for its development and welfare of its people. “Such leaders have been shifting loyalties as per their convenience”, he said. On this occasion the minister was accompanied by MLA Ramanjeet Singh Sikki, President Punjab Youth Congress Amarbeer Singh Lally and others.
Direct Bus Service from Bholath to Jalandhar
On the request of local residents to start direct bus service from Bholath to Mata Chintpurni Shrine in Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Jalandhar and Delhi, the minister announced that from Monday onwards, a direct bus service from Bholath to Jalandhar would be started. He also announced to open a party office in Bholath to redress the grievances of workers.
