Ludhiana : – The Special Court of Additional Sessions Judge sentenced accused Vishram Rawat resident of Village Bijra District Betia, West Champaran Bihar for the offence under drug peddling. He was convicted with sentence to undergo rigorous imprisonment for ten years and with fine of Rs One lakh under section 20 of NDPS Act. In the present case, 2 kilogram of Charas was recovered, which is a huge quantity. The court described that drug abuse is not a small problem now, as it is transformered in dangerous social evil.On September 25, 2014, an FIR was registered by Police under section 20 of Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act at GRP Police Station. As per police, on September 25, 2014, around 4 pm, police party was on routine checking at railway station Ludhiana. During the checking, accused was inspected by police party and 2 Kgs of charas was recovered from him. Defense counsel pleaded that accused were not guilty and claimed false implication. After go through detailed evidence, submissions and arguments of prosecution and defense, the court found them guilty.
