DSGMC honors Sikh UK MP. London / Delhi-Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee of Delhi honored the first Sikh Member of Parliament, Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi. Dhesi reached Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib and he was honored with shawl, kirpans and religious books by Akali Parliament Member Balwinder Singh Bhunder, General Secretary of the committee Manjinder Singh Sirsa and other committee members. Sirsa sought cooperation from Dhesi for resolving the problems faced by the Sikhs in foreign, related to Sikh identity.Sirsa also briefed the matter and sent that to UN General Secretary. Sirsa said that due to different laws in different countries of the world, the Sikhs had to face difficulties regarding five kakaras and turban. Therefore, the committee urged to give a letter in support of this matter and appealed to the British Foreign Minister to give that letter of support so that the Sikhs can be firmly supported in UN. Expecting the hearing on this matter in the next session of UN, Sirsa assured a full stop to the problems faced by Sikhs after introducing the law passed by UN.Dhesi thanked the Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee and said that it is matters of honor for him to be honored in such a way. He said that while assuring the nation’s commitment to strengthen the British, Punjab and Sikh affairs, Dhesi thanked the Punjabis for their cooperation in making them MPs.Dhesi also assured his support on the issue related to Sikh identity. He said that he will work for the betterment of the society as a whole.
