Ludhiana: If you are a government employee and skip the duty, then beware as the administrative officials will conduct surprise checking at schools, dispensaries, anganwaris and other government institutions from next week.The directions were issued by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh to Deputy Commissioners, Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs), and Sub Divisional Officers (SDMs) to conduct surprise checking in government institutions once in a week. The officers will cover rural and urban areas of their respective districts, describes the orders of the Deputy CM.
Interestingly, the Deputy CM also communicated to all the Deputy Commissioners to ensure media coverage of surprise checks in newspapers and TV channels, so that the people should know the efficiency of government and administration. The idea to conduct surprise checkings is to provide better administration and check the ground reality of government institutions. After conducting the checking, the officials will submit report to the department heads and the government.
The orders came a few months before the Vidhan Sabha elections and the top functionaries of the government believed that the state government wants to provide transparent, effective and honest administration for the people. Confirming the development, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Ravi Bhagat said that they have already started checking of schools, dispensaries and other government officials.All the ADCs, SDMs will conduct surprise checkings once in a week and submit their reports. During the checking the officials will check the attendance of staff, know the problems faced by public and suggest improvements, added the DC.
