Jalandhar: A visibly embarrassed BJP Punjab president Vijay Sampla on Saturday fumbled for words, when he repeatedly was confronted queries pertaining to Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s outburst against her own party leadership. Sampla not only evaded any direct reply on CPS Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s allegations, but also denied that she made any such controversial statement against the ruling SAD-BJP combine.
Fumbling for words, Sampla said, “Navjot Kaur Sidhu did not make any such statements.” However, when pointed out that her outburst against BJP Punjab leadership was published prominently in the media, Sampla said that he has not read anything that was published in the media. To another query, that whether the party leadership was going to take disciplinary action against CPS Sidhu, Sampla hurriedly dodged the query. Notably, CPS Sidhu was missing from the second and concluding day meeting of BJP state executive meeting in Jalandhar.
Further, when the media repeatedly bombarded Sampla with CPS Sidhu’s queries, he stood up and preferred to leave. Even other senior leaders including Technical Education Minister Madan Mohan Mittal and ex-Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna also preferred to leave the venue.
