It is a cycling event and a challenge to do a super Randonneur series in which a cyclist has to paddle- 200kms+ 300kms+ 400kms + 600 kms in 7 days. It was organized by Dr. Chiro Mitro a three time SR himself, founder of Delhi randonneur, one of theoldest and biggest Randoneuring club of India founded in 2011. 64 riders from all over the country registered but finally only 5 showed up at Linecreating History becoming the first in Asia to have done so.
Megha jain from Ludhiana, Punjab started cycling a year ago and already finished two Randonneurs series before attempting WHO 7 din! She has made Asian and Indian record of being the first woman to have earned the SR title and finishing 1500 Randonneuring Kilometres in 7 days.
It’s nothing less than miracle when she came back safe after doing a Hurculean job of cycling 1500 kms in 7 days and earned a title of Super Randonneur in 7 days. What makes it more special is that she didn’t use any security vehicle in the night which she should have opted for if she wanted but rode all by herself like any other co riders. The highlight of the ride was the tough 600 and 400 night segments in absolute zero visibilty due to fog, day time heat and night time chill, crisscrossing all night.
Standing applause for Megha Jain who became the first woman from Asia to have cracked in SR series in 7 days flat, defeating fear and anguish of riding all alone in absolute darkness and fog infested notorious and infamous roads and Highways of Haryana and Punjab all by herself without opting for a security/ safety vehicle( though she had the choice and a vehicle available).
