Subsidy on Food Park:Union Minister of Food Processing, Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that the farmers of Punjab could get a subsidy of Rs 10 crores for setting up Mini Food Park. At the same time, they can also take other benefits through small processing units as cooperative groups. The aim of this program is to distribute 6000 cr. of food grains to increase the value of food items in the next three years.Harsimrat Badal stating that it is a forward step and it will help farmers to become businessmen at a large scale. It will help in doubling the income of the farmers by 2022, the Union Minister said that large farmers can get participation in mega food parks, where they can get the subsidy of Rs. 5 crores. They can also set up their own mini park or put together a food processing unit, for which they will be given subsidy.Harsimrat Badal said she had talked with a consulting company to help farmers to make their project reports and avail of other technical information needed to apply for benefits. She also disclosed that there was a lot of scope for vegetable processing with overseas markets also opening up for farmers. The minister briefed farmers about the World Food India Fair being held on November 3-5 in Delhi.
