Farmers held protest against Navjot Singh Sidhu. Farmers held protest outside Cabinet Minister’s house for not fulfilling the promises they made during the elections and not waiving off the debts.Initially, they were stopped by the police but they were later allowed to perform a peaceful protest. Farmers accused Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and the Government for not fulfilling their promises and instead running away from them. They said it is not acceptable at any cost.Sarwan Singh Pandher, Deputy Superintendent of Kisan Sangharsh Committee, said that the promise debt waivers for the farmers has proved to be false because no notification has yet been issued by the government to waive-off the debts. He said that waiving off loans upto rupees 2 lakh is of no use and they would now launch a protest for complete debt waiver.
Besides this, they now demand that the other promises of providing government job to a person in every home, widow pension and to bring drug trafficking to an end, have not been fulfilled. They added that either the government should fulfill their promises or else they will protest.Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife and ex-MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu also came out to meet farmers’ leaders but the farmers were demanding that their meeting with the government should be fixed. On this occasion, Navjot Kaur Sidhu said that it is sad that the farmers are committing suicides and have come to the roads for their demands but the government is taking this issue very seriously and Navjot Sidhu is also serious about this issue. She said that she would personally tell Navjot Singh to personally meet Captain and resolve the issue.
