Ludhiana: Following the footsteps of Kiran Bedi, large number of women are interested in joining police department, which they usually used to avoid due to social and family pressures in the past. As still, in the maximum families of India, parents don’t want their girls to enter in to male dominating profession of police as due to odd duty hours and crime handling in it.
But even then, a large number of new women police recruiters from 2012 to 2016 have brought change in scenario of police stations in terms of having female cops, which would help the females in society to come forward with their complaints in comfortable manner. The women recruitees in the Civil and Railway Protection Force are showing a lot of dedication, determination and happiness in performing the duty of the police cop in Ludhiana.
“We are not finding any kind of problem in performing the day and night time duties at police stations as our male counterparts are very supportive. We want that more female cops should come and join police, as it would help the women section of society to come forward with their complaints. As most of them hesitate to tell their problems to male police men due to the old hard core police cops in country”, said, Rupinder Kaur, a police cop in the Civil.
Also, after the Delhi rape case on December 13, the center government announced to increase the number of women cops at the police stations, mainly one woman cop at each police station of the country, which has increased the enthusiasm among the young girls to join police to serve people. Even the Minister of the Railways said that to strengthen security of rail passengers, mainly women passengers, Railways have already created four companies of women RPF personnel and another eight would be set up.
A Railway Protection Force, Ludhiana, Police cop Jaswinder Kaur said, “We are enjoying job of police as someone thinks number of times to speak anything wrong to us being in profession. We are happy that the railway minister has done a reservation for RPF female cops and we would get more female cop colleagues. It in real sense showing the women empowerment in India in years to come as women would excel in this field also like Kiran Bedi.”
