Jalandhar: With the arrest of five persons including a woman, the Jalandhar police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of fraudsters engaged in issuing all kinds of fake documents including fake certificates of different departments, bogus driving licences and registration certificates of vehicles, fake voter cards, and fake insurance covers of vehicles etc.According to the police, a party led by ACP, Investigation Jalandhar Harjinder Singh and Incharge CIA Staff-1 Gurpreet Singh were present at Ravidass Chowk here when an informer told them that a gang comprising Ajay Kumar Lucky of Dilbagh Nagar, Jalandhar, Abhishek Sharma of New Model Town,
Jalandhar, Vijay Kumar alias Laddu of Hardyal Nagar, near Gurdwara Lamma Pind, Jalandhar and Baba Surjit Singh Nambardar of Hussainpur village in Kapurthala district were present at the Nakhanwala Bagh, near Dyal Nagar, Jalandhar and that if a raid was immediately conducted, they could be nabbed along with fake documents and bogus official stamps etc.Following this information, the police after registering a case (FIR No 67) under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B, 225, 259, 260 at police station Bhargo Camp, raided the said spot (Nakhanwala Bagh) and nabbed Vijay Kumar Laddu, Ajay Kumar Lucky, Abhishek Sharma and Rekha alias Neha of Jalandhar and recovered huge number of fake documents and stamps. These included six fake RCs of motocycles, one RC of Swift Desire, 34 fake documents concerning revenue dept., 28 pieces of fake stamps and seals of different government departments, 175 empty seals, 16 bogus voter identity cards, 6 bogus identity cards of nambardars, five fake certificates of Punjab School Education Board, eight pages of fake stickers of Ashoka, a computer along with monitor and its mouse and a scanner.
The police investigations revealed that a number of cases of fraud had already been registered against the accused in different police stations. Against accused Vijay Kumar Laddu nearly 11 cases including those of NDPS Act and Excise Act and against Abhishek three cases were already registered in various police stations in Jalandhar, said the police. The police have also arrested their fifth accomplice Rajiv Kaka of Bhargo Camp, Jalandhar.
