DP Correspondent Ludhiana A former Sarpanch of village Jhammat allegedly opened fire on boy and his female friend in South city area on Tuesday late evening. However no causality was reported but the boy sustained minor injury. The Haibowal Police have booked Sukhpal Singh for attempt to murder. According to police, Mastan Singh and his female friend was sitting in car outside the residence of Sukhpal Singh on south city road. Sukhpal came out and asked the victim to open the door. The victim didn’t open the door of car and Sukhpal allegedly fired four gunshots and fled from the spot. Former Sarpanch opened fire couple.Sources said that the woman sitting in car with Mastan Singh was cop. Mastan Singh said that he was sitting in car and suddenly Sukhpal Singh came. He was possessing pistol. The accused asked him to open the door but he was scared and didn’t open the door. The accused first fired on tyre of car and later on door of car. However he managed to escape. Former Sarpanch opened fire couple.On being informed Haibowal police reached the spot and initiated investigation in the case. SHO at Police station Haibowal Inspector Gurmit Singh said that Sukhpal Singh objected on parking the car outside his house and he fired four gunshots when car occupants didn’t open the door of car. He said the occupants of car were safe and they have registered case against Sukhpal Singh for attempt to murder and under arms act. No arrest has been made so far.
