Taking notice of the story published in the Daily Post dated November 27, 2018 regarding ‘No teacher in Batala School, Children look lost’, Education Minister, Punjab, OP Soni forwarded case to the Secretary School Education, Krishan Kumar on Novembers 28. Further taking notice of official orders, SSE Krishan Kumar on the directions of Education Minister deputed four more temporary teachers in Goverment School Batala with already one teacher on deputation in the school there. Keeping in mind the future of students, Krishan Kumar has asked the concerned teachers to join the Government School, Batala with immediate effect as in the next three months final exam of the students will take place. The office orders were passed to the teachers through Krishan Kumar on directions of Education Minister previous day only. The teachers are supposed to join Government School Batala at the earliest and permanent teachers would also be posted from the new session 2019. The copy of the duty orders sent to teachers through the District Education officer, Rakesh Bala in the District Gurdaspur whose copy Secretary School Education, Krishan Kumar sent to the Education Minister is with the Daily Post. See in the picture below and read the office orders.
It is pertinent to mention that Government School of Batala does not have a single permanent teacher to teach around 130 students. As per records of education department, the Goverment School, Batala has ten sanctioned posts of teachers and one sweeper. But Batala schools just have one sweeper while the posts of ten permanent teachers are vacant from the past few years to play with student’s future. The permanent teachers which were appointed at school got their transfers done with the passage of time in the past few years which had also affected results of Government School, Batala including tenth standard results. As in last session just three students were passed in the tenth standard among 29 students. Surjit Kaur who was deputed last week at the Goverment School Batala also raised issue with education department and Panchayat on first day of joining. From time to time one or two teachers were deputed at Government School, Batala on deputation but after sometime they also went back to their own schools from where they came. As then study and results of their own school students use to suffer but after daily post highlighted the matter they immediately deputed the teachers. But question arises if media doesn’t highlight the issue is it not duty of education department to keep a proper check on the status of teachers, education, results and infrastructure in the various Government Schools of Punjab to make their position better.
