Ludhiana: From the team of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security, a sniffer dog, black in colour, landed at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University here on Friday to get treatment for intra oral tumor.
Black coloured Labrador (9), who has been well trained to detect various items such as explosives, and is generally taken to search the places before PM’s visit, underwent a surgery of mouth at the hospital of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.
It took one and a half hour to remove the tumor that had developed along a tooth as per sources in the university, by the team led by Dr. Arun Anand, Associate Professor at GADVASU.
The doctors informed that the tooth has also been removed. A defense team comprising of four officers brought the dog from Patiala in a gypsy. After the surgery ended, the dog was immediately taken to Patiala.
An official of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University on requesting anonymity said, “The dog was unable to eat food and it was losing weight. Besides suffering from pain, bad breath and occasional bleeding from his mouth indicated about the presence of tumor along a tooth.”
He also added that the dog is a part of PM’s security and has been suffering from mouth related problem for last several days that is why the surgery was much needed to cure the pain.
