Patiala:The ongoing strict action against the illegal mining in this District bore fruits as the Ghagga police take action against the illegal sand mining in its area and caught one accused along with the JCB machine from the site. Later a case in this connection has been registered against the three accused.
According to the sources in the police the operation was conducted when a police party headed by the Sub-Inspector (SI) Gurdev Singh was doing a patrolling duty near the village Attalan got an information that some people are involved in the illegal mining of Sand and using the JCB machine for the extraction of the Sand at the Village Darouli.Taking action over the information the police party moved to the spot and found the people involved in the illegal mining and when challenged two of them gave a slip whereas one Nirvair Singh son of Jangir Singh (resident of the village Darouli) was caught along with the JCB machine from the spot.
The Police then registered a case under FIR No. 20 under sections 379 of the IPC and sections of mines and minerals Act, 1957 against the accused identified as Nirvair Singh, Sarabjit Singh and Harjinder Singh son of Rattan Singh (resident of the Neelokheri), at the Ghagga Police Station. The JCB recovered in the operation has been impounded by the police.
