Golden Temple look-alike row: SGPC summons management on Feb 6
Sangrur – The four-member committee, constituted by SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal on January 23 to resolve Golden Temple look-alike row, met in the premises of Gurdwara Nankiana Sahib here on Saturday. Besides Hardev Singh Rogla, an executive member of the SGPC and other three members of the committee which included, Bhupinder Singh Bhalwan, Karnail Singh Panjoli and Malkit Singh Changal (all SGPC members). The committee was formed by the SGPC president after the starting of an indefinite fast by United Akali Dal’s general secretary Parshotam Singh Phaguwala on January 20 at Bhawanigarh to get Akal Takht June 20, 2009 “Hukamnama” (edict) implemented in toto.
The edict was issued by Akal Takht to make changes in the controversial structure of a Golden Temple look-alike Sikh shrine, situated in the premises of Gurdwara Sachkhand Angitha Sahib atMastulana Sahib. However, on the assurance of the SGPC’s four-member committee that it would get the look of the controversial structure changed completely in a month, Phaguwala had ended his indefinite fast on January 24. After talking to Daily Post this evening, Bhupinder Singh Bhalwan, one of the SGPC members said that the committee had decided to hold its next meeting on February 6 at 1.00 pm at Mastuana Sahib in view of the organisation of “Jor Mela” at Gurdwara Mastuana Sahib these days.
He said the committee had summoned two representatives of the management of controversial structure through Akal Council, Mastuana Sahib, to participate in February 6 meeting at Mastuana Sahib, to issue directions to them, with regard to make changes in the structure in toto as per the edict, issued by Akal Takht Sahib.
