The teachers from all over the state gathered at Dinanagar in Gurdaspur District– the home town of Education Minister Aruna Choundary and gheraoed her residence on a call from Punjab Government Teachers Union.
Sukhwinder Singh Chahal, State President, Kuldip Singh Dodka, General Secretary, PGTU said, the union has to take this decision being fed up from anti-teachers policies of the government. “The present Education Minister is perhaps the first in the history of Punjab who started snatching the rights of the teachers immediately after taking charge,” he alleged ruing delay in release of salaries.
They further said, even the transfers of the loyalists have been ordered ignoring the transfer and rationalization policy of the education department while the teachers are waiting for inviting of options for transfers.
Earlier the teachers after the protest march in the city, sat on dharna outside the residence of Education Minister and shouted anti-government slogans.
Speaking to this correspondent on phone from Dinanagar, Neeraj Yadav Press Secretary said, the teachers are sitting on dharna in front of the residence of the Education Minister at Dinanagar and continue till such time any assurance is given by the Education Minister with regard to acceptance of their demands.
He also said, in the event of no response, the protest march will lead towards Vidhan Sabha and after that en route for Chief Minister’s residence.
