Ferozepur – The General Secretary of BKU Lakhowal Harinder Singh Lakhowal said that if the Captain government is really honest towards the farmers, it should waive off the entire loan of farmers. He urged the Punjab government to waive off the debts of all farmers in the state without any discrimination. Harinder Singh Lakhowal in a meeting held at Historical Gurdwara Jamani Sahib Vajidpur near Ferozepur. Speaking on this occasion he said that in 2014, PM Narendra Modi had came into power in the Centre after deceiving the farmers with the promise to waive off the loans of farmers and after that Captain Amarinder Singh got landslide victory only due to votes of farmers whom he had promised to waive off their loans soon after coming into power. But neither Modi government had kept its promise, nor the Captain’s government in the state, due to which there is great resentment among the farmers against both governments in the Centre and state. Many farmers had been committing suicides in the state. He aware the farmers that the 2018 year is going to be very difficult for the farmers and untidily the farmers can give the appropriate lesson to the Modi government in the coming Lok Sabha elections and after that to the state government.
Lakhowal said, they had given the ultimatum to the Centre to fulfill all those promises that had been made during the elections, otherwise the farmers would show the exit gate of the Lok Sabha to the government. He said that in the first move they would encircle the Delhi on 13 March, 2018 to lodge their protest. He also mentioned that the BKU union had initiated a drive in the state to aware the farmers conducting meetings at the village level. Many demands included the implementation of the Swaminathan report, waving off the loan of farmers, to bring out of the farming sector out of the GST. Lakhowal also condemned the policies of WTO.
