Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has issued the notification increasing 33 per cent hike in the salary of nurses, who had been holding protests in various stations in the State.They wrote a letter with their blood to the Madam Aroosa, a woman friend of CM Amarinder Singh, in which they wrote if their demand is not met, they will not hesitate to commit any sacrifice.In the evening the Government had issued notification to increase 33 per cent of salaries of 540 nurses working on contract across the State. Two days ago, three protesting nurses had climbed on the rooftop of the Rajindera Medical College, Patiala. They had also held the protest before the residence of Health Minister Brahm Mahnidra.It has been told in the notification, issued by the Medical education and research department, Punjab that the 33 per cent increase in the wages of nurses is done on the condition that no more increments will be given in future unless nurses are regularized. Till the accepting of demand, the nurses were getting Rs 16,295 per month, but with the new notification, they will able to get Rs 21,680 per month. Now their struggle will be for regularization of job.
