Govt planning to cut short liquor vends by 25 pc. Punjab government is now planning to cut short the number of liquor vends in state by 25 per cent in next five years. Government will start the cut in allocation of vends by 5 per cent every year and planning to earn 25 to 30 per cent more revenue by introducing amendments in excise policy.Although measures will be taken to increase the sales and revenue from liquor but still the health of people will remain the main concern of government. This was disclosed by Finance Minister Manpreet Badal during recently held assembly session.While presenting amendment in excise and taxation bill Manpreet disclosed that new comprehensive policy will soon be formed and rationalisation of rates will be looked into. By doing new amendments government will earn 5500 crore rupees as tax. He informed that they are looking the excise policy of Chattisgarh and Tamilmadu.
