Ludhiana: A Granthi of Gurudwara Sahib got died over a fight between two families due to stray cattle at Machhiwara, near here, on Sunday. Besides, six others have sustained injuries in the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Gurdeep Singh (20). Of the 6 people who got injured during the clash, one is very serious. The serious person has been referred to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala.
The granthi of the gurdwara died after he intervened in the fight over the issue of stray cattle.
Chanan Singh, father of the deceased told that Budh Singh had abandoned his cow few days ago. The cow used to roam around near their house. It was excreting outside house of his brother Nirmal Singh, who lives next to him. Nirmal Singh asked Budh Singh to stop this but he didn’t. Both of families entered in a clash and hit each other with sticks and rods when Nirmal went to the house of Budh for complaining regarding this.
Adding, Chanan Singh said his son Gurdeep Singh, who was collecting milk on his cycle from the households for Gurudwara Sahib stopped there and tried intervening in the matter. Meanwhile, Budh Singh along with his family members and accomplices allegedly thrashed Gurdeep Singh along with Suchha Singh and Surinder Kaur with rods and sticks leaving them injured.
Gurdeep Singh was referred to PGIMER at Chandigarh, but he died on the way. Suchcha Singh has been referred to Rajindra Hospital at Patiala, while Surinder Kaur was discharged from the hospital.
The Machhiwara police have registered a case of murder against nine accused including seven of a single family. Station House Officer (SHO) at Police Station, Machhiwara said, “The police have registered the case against Budh Singh and family members and his two accomplices Chhinderpal and Harjinder Singh”. He added three accused managed to ran away from the spot. He said these two accused too sustained injuries in the clash.
