Navjot Singh Sidhu said that people living on rented houses of City Council and Panchayat land will be given ownership to the houses and Punjab Government has given green signal for the same. Those who are living for more than 20 years in the rented houses will now be given the right of ownership. BJP’s media Chief Sunil Singla went to Navjot Singh Sidhu to ask about the rights of rented people. In return, Sidhu informed him that their government has already released notification regarding it.Earlier due to the elections, decision was delayed. But now notification has been made public. He further informed that after the completion of the formalities tenants would be given their rights of ownership on the above mentioned lands. If any officer will do any kind of delay in this process, they can directly complain to them. According to the notification 150 square meter and 200 square Meter Houses will be provided to tenants. But before that they must provide the proof of 20 years of living. Its benefits would be given to all the tenants.In Bathinda, approximately 392 shops and more than 200 houses applications are lying with the concerned department for the claim of ownership. As many as 60 tenants submitted applications with Rs. 1000 draft before Punjab Polls 2017 elections but after the code of conduct a temporary stop was put on its processing.
