Once among the up most issues for Parliamentary election, both the BJP and Congress had attacked each other for failure to fulfill their promises to accomplish this project in which people of not only Qadian town but also from Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Dera Baba Nanak and Batala would get monetary benefits. In the past thirty years, many political leaders including former Congress MP Sukhbuns kaur Bhinder, BJP MP Vinod Khanna and also Congress Rajya sabha MP Pratap Singh Bajwa had consistently raised this vital issue to seek votes from the people of the constituency but this was the first time, when the BJP candidate Swaran salaria had kept their silence because of state BJP stand who had raised objection to lay down the track in a view to lure the vote of the farmer section. However, PPCC President and Congress candidate from Gurdaspur, Sunil Jakhar has promised to fulfill this project, once he would be elected.Meanwhile in an order to implement the directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to conduct free and fair election in Gurdaspur Parliament constituency, the Batala police district has launched a special action plan.Under the plan a total of 36 special nakas have been lying which would round the clock and 11 special nakas would be set up along with the International Border of Indo Pak to thwart any untoward incident in the election, besides deployment of Central Reserve Police force, Border Security Force and Indo Tibet Border Police .The administration is going to deploy as many as 20 companies of paramilitary troops in this border district which comprises of 4 assembly constituencies of Gurdaspur Parliament constituency.Giving information SSP, Batala Opinderjit Singh Gumman said on the recommendations of the election commission, as many as 20 companies of paramilitary forces will be deployed. Besides this, 2,220 policemen of Batala police and about 3,000 policemen from PAP will be deployed on every nook and corner of the area. Three companies of CRPF, Two companies of Border Security Force and one company of ITBP have reached which would deploy in the Batala police district from Monday.
