HC issues notice to CBI on plea of Khatta Singh. Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday issued notice of motion to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and other respondents in an application filed by former driver Khatta Singh of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. Khatta Singh had moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court on last Friday praying that that he should be allowed to record his statement afresh into Ranjit Singh case.Confirming this, counsel for Khatta Singh senior advocate Navkiran Singh said that Khatta Singh submitted an affidavit in this regard on Friday. He said that Khatta Singh also submitted a copy of his statement in the court. Advocate Navkiran said no proceedings would be held in the special CBI court till the case is pending in the High Court. The special CBI court would not pronounce any final order till then, he added. Now the case will come for hearing on October 31.Panchkula special CBI court had dismissed the petition of Khatta Singh in this regard earlier this month. Khatta Singh has important evidence against Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and wanted to record his statement afresh in the alleged Ranjit Singh killing case, said his counsel. Earlier, Khatta Singh had retracted from his statement due to security reasons, but now he wants to record his statement again.It is mentioned that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Dera head, who is in jail for 20 years for raping two sadhvis of his Dera, is the main conspirator in the alleged killing of Ranjit Singh. The special CBI court in Panchkula is hearing the cases of alleged killing of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati and Ranjit Singh. Khatta Singh, a witness in the alleged murder of Ranjit Singh and had retracted his statement in the past as he was under pressure from Ram Rahim Singh and his ‘goons,’ his counsel had claimed.
