Jalandhar: Jalandhar police had a major success when they busted a gang of highway robbers on Thursday. Four members of the gang have been arrested and firearms were recovered from them while two of them managed to escape. ACP Investigation Sandeep Sharma gave the details of the arrest made in a press conference held on Thursday afternoon.
As per ACP, the arrested gang members are part of Bhalu gang, infamous for robberies and similar crimes. Jalandhar police had learnt from an informer that the gang members are sitting in a deserted area and making a plan for dacoity. CIA Jalandhar Staff Inspector Angrej Singh and his police party sorrounded the area and made them surrender.
“We have recovered one countrymade pistol, two automatic mousers, one sharp edged weapon, live rounds and 75 gm of drug powder from the arrested persons. Scala car has also been recovered from them. All of them have history of crimes and are wanted criminal in different police stations of Jalandhar.” DCP Sandeep said.
Those arrested were identified as Ajay Sehdev aka Ajay Suniara of Jandiala Manjaki, Rajinder Singh alias Neki, Harmandeep Singh and Narinder Singh of Bilga Village. Those escaped were identified as Amadeep Singh and Gagandeep Singh both of Talwan Village of Jalandhar.
The arrested gang members are part of famous Bhalu gang and looted several car drivers on National Highway 1. They were planning to loot a petrol pump when they were arrested. All four have been booked u/s 399,402,25-54-59 Arms Act and NDPS Act.
