Union food processing industry minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Wednesday expressed shocked at the fact that the state government was distributing winter uniforms to the government school children when the summer is almost at its peak. She demanded the the Capt Amarinder Singh government to explain why was it happening with poor children and demanded an inquiry be ordered into the supply of poor quality uniforms which were being rejected by the people.
The issue was brought to the notice of Harsimrat Badal by Dalit women at Alisher Kalan village during her election campaign. A woman showed a school uniform received by her for her daughter which was far too short in size and was hardly usable.
Some other women also complained that the uniforms were of very poor quality and un-wearable. She said she was receiving complaints from across the constituency that children of class eight and nine were receiving uniforms which could be worn by students of class two and three only
